Welcome

The medium is "found objects". Many of the parts in each of our props started their life as something else. From bug zapper bases and plastic plant pots to aluminum bundt pans, we have collected the bits and pieces and found a more sinister use for them. Welcome to the world of My Mad Lab. I hope you enjoy these creations.

A brief history of Time

My Mad Lab has its roots in a special project I did with friends for the 2004 World Science Fiction Convention held here in Boston. We entered the Masquerade with the entry H G Wells: Adventures In Time. The concept was HG Wells and his Time Machine pick up different folks for a grand adventure. People like Samuel Cement, Amelia Earhart, Annie Oakley etc... the problem is how to build a time machine. I came up with the idea of a carousel inspired spinning salon chair. Well the opening of the doorways on the stage quickly made that size too big. So I settled with a spinning platform our temporal traveler hung on for dear life. LOL

The time machine christened the Agamemnon was a huge hit. After the con I sold the Agamemnon on ebay. It was made from junk I found in a dumpster locally. I had a ton of bits and pieces I ended up not using so where the time machine sold I figured instead of throwing this stuff away I would build some lab equipment something that could fit quite well in a Haunted house. Well I threw an electrode together and it sold for 100.00! I was sold. I have been building ever since.

New Direction, ROBOTS!!!

I have always loved robots. I remember as a kid always wanting to have the robot from Lost in Space. I plan to build a Robby The Robot from Forbidden Planet. That is a project that is still far off, in the mean time I have found a few items that allow me to make Robots of my own. Currently I have made Two styles, An Art Deco Robot that looks like something from Sky Captain. The other an Alien Monster Robot using my glowing atomic brain design. I have a H G Wells Marsian War Machine Robot in the works right now that I have to make two because I have to keep one of these babies for myself. <G> I really find great satisfaction making the Bots and I think they will become part of my permanent production like the Atomic Brain jars etc.

Halloween

We have a haunt every year and it has grown to be too large. We are reducing it to half size this year so lots of stuff will be making its way onto ebay from the Deadford Cemetery. All of it will be one of a kind and I wont be making more. So keep an eye out for some cool one of a kind items on ebay.

I hope you like these creations and thank you for visiting my site.

Regards

Karl
